Tonight, as I was enjoying a lovely pipe and this years Jubelale from Deschutes Brewery, I decided why not just create these reviews here, to share with others. So let's get on with it then, shall we?<div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLXMOdprRMzcUpwfm73ueIPUcI9uVgtHeZ-duMRrn5518oo2t5aUAJ0upV26EsyZV8z6bPvhkL8eXQ49MSz0WJO4bRe3rhmxpaw6xYgVlxZuwWfU7c-uIrdd1HqpB0ru7eUpHo3w/s4032/PXL_20201114_022433038.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLXMOdprRMzcUpwfm73ueIPUcI9uVgtHeZ-duMRrn5518oo2t5aUAJ0upV26EsyZV8z6bPvhkL8eXQ49MSz0WJO4bRe3rhmxpaw6xYgVlxZuwWfU7c-uIrdd1HqpB0ru7eUpHo3w/s320/PXL_20201114_022433038.jpg" /></a></div><br /><div><b>Beer</b>: Jubelale </div><div><b>Brewery</b>: Deschutes</div><div><b>Location</b>: Bend, OR.</div><div><b>Category: </b>Winter Seasonal</div><div><b>Beer Advocate:</b></div><div> https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/63/2178/</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>Of all of the seasons that prompt special beer offerings from breweries, the winter seasonal is perhaps my favorite. Many breweries play with spice, fruit, and those rich and roasty flavors that dark malts can provide. As the weather gets cold I start looking for the return of these beers, and Jubel is always one of the first I look for. This years Jubel does not disappoint. The silky mouthfeel coats the tongue pleasantly, without feeling heavy or surypy. The initial taste is of toffee and hints of chocolate which finishes with a lovely roastiness. </div>Pope Ketrichttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16747062687081570256noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20834816.post-59100375596844128662018-05-18T10:19:00.001-07:002018-05-18T14:42:05.631-07:00AzraelFinished up Azrael this week while watching the Faces and Bases twitch stream. If you haven't checked this out it's worth a gander. I find having the weekly twitch stream helps me set aside time to get some painting done, and relives some of the tedium of just staring at a model for hours on end. Finally got around to putting the finishing touches on Lylyth2 today. Fairly happy with the way she turned out. Next I'm going to put some finishing touches on my raptor squad before taking the dive into zenithal priming.Pope Ketrichttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16747062687081570256noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20834816.post-36277378871149788542018-01-09T12:05:00.001-08:002018-01-09T12:07:48.459-08:00Reciprocators Redux Finally finished my most recent painting project, a squad or Reciprocators for my Convergence army. This is my second squad so I thought I'd pull out a model from the original squad I painted for comparison. Being one of the first squads I painted, I remember just trying to get it done so that I could have painted models on the table. In hindsight I know I shouldn't have rushed it, having spent more time on the most recent models I feel a greater sense of completion, and am quite a bit happier with the end product.<br />
<br />
Next on the painting block is Orion.<br />

It keeps costs down while giving me the ultimate in control over the finished product. I get to tinker, experiment, and to some extent explore. This morning's breakfast was a little bit of all of these things. <div>
<br /></div>
<div>
My parents were never squeamish with their eggs when I was a child. I grew up looking at this viscous orange fluid that leaked out on my Dad's plate with a sort of 'I wish my scrambled eggs did that' sort of envy. Once I started cooking for myself I tried my hand at it, with limited success at first. Now eggs over easy are a frequent breakfast at our house, to the delight of the children and the chagrin of my wife. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Last night I was hanging out with Bri while watching Top Chef. Several of the chefs made dishes with a '6 Minute' egg. I've heard about soft boiled eggs before, but I've never gotten around to trying them. This morning I gave it a go, and could not be happier with the results. All of the delicious warm self saucing egg with whites the consistency of a hard boiled egg. It was amazing. I piled a pair on top of my rosemary red potato hash browns for great justice. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The preparation couldn't be easier. You need: </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Eggs, some. </div>
<div>
Dash of salt.</div>
<div>
Pot of water.</div>
<div>
Bowl of ice bath. </div>
<div>
Splash of Vinegar, white is fine. (Optional)</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Add vinegar and salt to the pot of water and bring it to a boil on the stove. Carefully introduce the eggs to the boiling water. Breaking the eggs isn't optimal, but it's not the end of the world either, the vinegar will help keep any broken eggs from leaking to much. Boil the eggs for 6 minutes, then move them to the ice bath. Shell and serve. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>

Still not entirely happy with the basing, but it will work for now, at least until I come up with a better solution. I really enjoyed painting Axis. The model has good lines and some neat details that are difficult to pick out from the unpainted/primed version. He's one of the only 'living' models in faction, and is basically just a dude in power armor, with hammers for hands.<br />

The servitors are an attempt to prep for playing with the current Mk3 CoC theme list a bit more. It's fairly servitor heavy.<br />

Is this thing still on?Another new years has passed, and I've once again decided to pick up publishing to the web. Fueled by a desire to start journaling, and to get some much needed writing practice. So I brushed off the old domain and found that configuring blogger to respond on the www.pulpreligion.org name was trivial. I'm not entirely certain if that's because for this time around I used google domains to register the name, or if there was some lingering config deep in the bowls of the DNS system, but hey it's working so I won't knock it.<br />
